eDesign - what is it and how does it work?

What is eDesign?

Traditional full-service interior decorating is time-consuming and expensive – and a lot of what you’re paying for is the time the designer spent driving to and from your house to look at this or check that. It's great if you can afford it - but many designers have project minimums, meaning that if you're on a budget or just need a new couch, you may not be able to find a designer to take the job.

eDesign uses modern technology to streamline the process, making it faster and more affordable. It also means you can work with the designer you’re most excited about working with, even if you’re on opposite sides of the country.

Since your designer will never be in your home and may not even be in your local area, you’ll need to do some of the things a full-service decorator would normally take care of, such as measuring your space and installing your new decor.

However, your designer should be (virtually) by your side and answering any questions you have along the way - and the major benefit of eDesign is that it makes expert design services accessible for everyone.

Whether you’re filling an empty room from scratch or just need a new couch or a few pictures, an eDesigner can help.

And how does eDesign work, exactly?

  1. We’ll have an initial consult via Zoom to determine your style and budget, as well as your wants and needs for the space.
  2. You’ll measure your space using the room measuring guide. Don’t worry, it’s easy – and I’m here to answer any questions you may have.
  3. I’ll create at least one floor plan from your measurements to ensure we’re making the best use of your space.
  4. Mood board + Initial design. I’ll send you some ideas about colors, products and overall direction to make sure we’re on the same page about what you want and are creating something you love.
  5. Product sourcing. Once you’ve approved the mood board, I’ll scour the internet (including “to the trade,” designer-only resources) for products that fill your requirements. These will be presented in a 2D mockup (check out my portfolio for examples). If you aren’t completely in love with the design, I’ll keep working until you are.
  6. Final design + Shopping list. You'll receive a list of all products on the approved final design and where to purchase them.
  7. Go to town! You’ll order and install the products on your own time frame, whether that’s ordering everything in one day or spreading the big purchases over a few months.

So, how much does eDesign cost?

That varies by designer, from a few hundred to a few thousand per room. Currently, my price is $159 to design a single room*.

And of course, the price of the furnishings selected depends on your budget.

*For designs in open plan spaces, a "room" is determined by function - so the living area would be considered a separate room from the dining area or kitchen.

Okay, how can I have you design my room?
